The film follows a flock of sheep whose peaceful life falls apart after their beloved shepherd George is mysteriously murdered. Having spent years listening to him read detective novels aloud every night, the sheep begin investigating the murder themselves, slowly uncovering secrets hidden within their quiet countryside village.

The film never treats its sheep characters like one-note gimmicks, and that sincerity is exactly what makes the story work. By the halfway point, you are fully invested in these wool-covered detectives trying to solve the death of the only human who ever truly cared for them.

What surprised me most was how difficult the mystery actually was to crack. The screenplay constantly throws subtle clues, red herrings, and suspicious behavior at the audience without ever feeling cheap.

The comedy is another major highlight. The humor never relies solely on “talking sheep” jokes. Instead, it comes from personality clashes within the flock, awkward interrogations, and the absurd seriousness with which the sheep approach detective work. Some scenes genuinely feel like a countryside version of KNIVES OUT (2019).

Underneath all the comedy and detective chaos, the film quietly explores grief, loneliness, and community. George’s absence hangs over every scene, and the sheep solving the case feels less about justice and more about holding onto the memory of someone they loved.
